WHAT DO YOU WANT?
Certainly you
cannot begin to be happy unless you know what you really want. This seems
somewhat silly, but you must define clearly what it is you wish to have.
However, very few people can do this.
In the interest of
providing a quick example, we will do a two-part exercise.
Part One:
For now, just
briefly and quickly write down three things you wish to have right now. Do this
before reading on:

Certainly everyone
has answered this question in different ways. It goes without saying that
success is defined differently for all people. For you, this might mean success
in business, better relationships, closer family relationships, a state of
enlightenment, freedom from addictions or negative mind-states or sickness or any
combination of any of the above. Your personal definition of success matters
only to you. However you define this word, Total Success Now will show you how
to accomplish the goal of building a new life - a life in which you experience
not just success, but mega-success.
However, first you
must know what you really want
Thirty years of research went into the writing of Total Success Now.
Practically every conceivable methodology ever devised by man was thoroughly
researched, studied, organized and then categorized in the attempt to finding
the common, primary keys that would unlock the door to mega-success for any
individual. It was found that there are three primary problems, errors in
perception, made by those who do not achieve success. Those who do achieve mega
success have managed to, intuitively or otherwise, overcome these perceptual
beliefs, commonly held by most ‘unsuccessful’ people
To understand how you can achieve whatever you desire, how you can solve
any problem, achieve any goal or to reach a state of unending joy instantly,
this very moment, you must begin by understanding the three primary perceptual
errors. Here we will cover just one of these very briefly
ERROR ONE: I AM MY MIND
Everything a human being says or does, feels or believes, decides,
thinks or perceives is a direct result of the thoughts that human being holds.
Your thoughts create your entire experience of the world. If you change your
thought patterns, you can completely change the world you experience
Most of us know this. Some of us use this. However, there is a subtle
point that you must grasp in regards to this theory. That point, simply stated, is this
It is your mind that creates these thoughts. It is not you who
creates these thoughts
You do have a mind. But it is not you. Though you experience your
thoughts, and the entire world they bring with them, you are, to a large
degree, not responsible for them
Your mind has a ‘mind of its own’.
Happy, successful people are not lucky or blessed. These people simply
see their minds in a different light. When you learn to control your mind, you
can control your entire existence. Stated simply, there are those who
understand this and those who do not. Those who understand this, those who have
learned to really control their own minds, (rather than their minds controlling
them) succeed in finding success and joy as a result, as these people
simply do not allow their minds to dictate to them.
Again, this is a subtle point but a very important one. Left to its own
devices, the mind can become lazy, fearful, depressed, lonely, gluttonous,
addicted and can experience any number of other negative states. This is
covered in much more detail in Total Success Now. For now, just understand that
this is the nature of the human mind. For many people, this is true.
Those who willingly or unwillingly allow the mind to dictate to them
seem to become lazy, fearful, depressed, lonely, gluttonous, addicted and so
forth. Those who do not understand how to control their own minds therefore
suffer greatly. They become the unknowing and unwilling victims of their very
own minds.
Now you might believe this is an obvious fact. So simply ask yourself:
Do you completely control your own mind? Or do you experience thoughts,
feelings and situations you do not wish to have at all? Are you sad, depressed
or angry, but do not wish to be so? Are you fearful? Lonely? Are you sometimes
lazy? If so, you most likely do not want to be so. However, you still
experience these states.
If you do not wish to experience these states, but experience them
nonetheless, then ask yourself: What is causing me to experience things I do
not wish to experience?
Again, stated simply, it is your mind; your ‘mind with a mind of its
own’.
It is quite likely you do not control your mind to any great degree.
However, this can be taught and this you can learn. If your mind is responsible
for everything you experience - everything - would not retraining the mind be
the most important goal one could possibly hold?
If you experience any unwanted situation or mental state, it is because
you do not control your mind. When you learn to control your mind, you will no
longer experience these states. Total Success Now will teach you how to
accomplish this immediately.
Part Two:
The Second Question
Now I will ask another question.
Suppose, just for a moment, that today, this very day, is your last day
on earth. You have just until midnight to live and then you will be gone from
here forever. Suppose, just for a minute, that this is really the end for you.
You will never see your friends or family again. What three things would you do
immediately - today? Write down the answers before continuing. If you had but a
few hours left to live, what would you do – right now?

Many people will answer with 'I would go see my friends one last time'
or 'Make amends with Bob finally' or 'Speak to family members and tell them my
TRUE feelings' or any number of different answers. Most likely you answered in
much the same way.
Now, compare these three answers with the three answers you gave in
response when I asked what you wanted at the beginning. Do they match? If so,
consider yourself very lucky. Most likely, they do not match at all.
This is because you used your mind to answer the first question, and
your heart, the real you, to answer the second.
You see, you and your mind can often be at odds in regards to what it is
you really wish to have. What you really want is what is listed in your second answer. Your
mind will often desire something completely different. What your mind wants is
listed in the first answer.
And it is quite likely you spend most of your time trying to appease the
wishes of your mind, rather than your true wishes and goals.
This is another reason why
learning to control your own mind becomes vital in regards to gaining what you
really want.
